watermelon seeds

...as I was switching the laundry this morning to wash diapers...I exclaim to all who will listen "WHY ARE THERE SO MANY WATERMELON SEEDS IN THE WASHER????" to which my dear husband immediately starts chuckling and says "that will be the title of your first book"....and Hannah says "I wondered why 3 watermelon seeds fell out of my folded shirt this morning"....welcome to my world ☺

the simple woman's daybook....

FOR TODAY Monday August 17th, 2009

Outside my window... lots of drizzling rain

I am thinking...about how much I have to do when I am done nursing...menu plan, lesson plan, create schedules for my 12 children and I for school, clean my desk, clean my room, run laundry, start dinner....

I am thankful for...the life the Lord has given me, even if I never 'get it all done'

From the kitchen...today's lunch was chicken salad on croissants and canteloupe...still coming up with dinner

I am wearing... purple polo shirt, black nursing jumper with beautiful purple lilacs all over it

I am creating...a schedule is my most creative venture right now, besides the matching bandana jumpers we are making to match for my husbands company party this weekend

I am going...no where tonight...I already went to the midwife for my 6 week checkup and to our local amish farm for milk

I am reading..."If I am diapering a watermelon, then where'd I leave the baby"

I am hoping...to get the baby down for a nice nap and actually accomplish something besides nursing and errands today

I am hearing...my 1 year old chattering from the toilet where her 12 year old sister is taking her potty

Around the house...several of my children are in the yard picking up stuff (in the rain)that shouldn't have been left out to begin with (like diapers and shoes)

One of my favorite things...iced cafe mocha...caramel rolls with pecans

A few plans for the rest of the week:sewing, planning, cleaning, nursing and nursing and nursing

Molly's Money-Saving Digest for August 2009

I just bought and downloaded "Molly's Money-Saving Digest" for August 2009. While our budget is very lean, I knew this issue had my name written all over it.

The topic this month is organization. With a family of 14 on one income, money saving and organization are two of my favorite topics...or at least absolutely essential ones! It has 52 pages worth of helpful information covering; making your own mixes, organizing bank accounts, decorating frugally and organizing the dirty dozen (closets, garage, recipes, kitchen, mail, photos, toys, clothing, finances, school papers, bathrooms and e-books). I am anxious to get all the way through it so I can begin some organization before we start school.

Here is the link to the August Digest so you can check it out for yourself : http://www.theoldschoolhousestore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=166&products_id=11767
Simple Saturday....

FOR TODAY -Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Outside my window...grass in our backyard that desperately needs mowed...but our family has been too busy this week with an Advanced Seminar

I am thinking...with my 3 oldest and husband gone for the day...about how challenging life was when I had 9 children ages 12 and under like I do today...especially when several have sickness and I have a 3 week old infant.

I am thankful for...precious baby James...3 weeks old and nursing all the time

From the kitchen...trying to figure out dinner right now...I am thinking pot roast, potatoes and carrots....comfort food for all my runny nose children

I am wearing... pale pink polo shirt, jumper with denim top and blue and pale pink floral skirt

I am creating...well, trying to create a new blog, not exactly sure what I am doing. Also creating birthday presents for my almost 11 year old daughter Mary....several new jumpers, she has grown out of last years birthday presents.

I am going...crazy :-)

I am reading...Eat well, lose weight, while breastfeeding, and Mummy Tummy

I am hoping...my children get better quickly, that baby won't get sick, that I can figure out a way to clean, sew, raise children, feed them, homeschool, and be a godly nurturing wife and mother before I die :-)

I am hearing...lots of children, many of who are making hot tea in the kitchen to help with their colds

Around the house...I need to go wash the cloth diapers and start the roast, my 6 year old is making the 5 and 3 year old hot cherry berry tea, my 8 year old is snuggling with the baby, my 1 year old is drinking her sippy cup of lukewarm tea, my 12 year old just got done drawing a horse picture and is going to clean the kitchen, the 10 year old is laying under all the warm towels that just came out of the dryer...trying to keep warm due to sickness, the 9 year old just jumped on top of the warm towels to join the 10 year old!

One of my favorite things...java chip frappucinos....aaahhhh

A few plans for the rest of the week:my 16 year old gets her wisdom teeth cut out (ouch), our church has their quarterly ladies lunch, and hopefully recovering from having a baby (I haven't had time for that yet).

Greetings

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the web! I didn't think I would ever blog....and now, here I am. Of course I never thought I'd have 12 children either, but the Lord knows better than I do! :-)
